Giving to bon secours richmond community hospital
Message from the Administrator
Bon Secours and philanthropy have always been intertwined. We have always seen our role as not just to provide sick care, but to partner with our communities in pursuit of our mission to give Good Help to Those in Need®.
In my role with Bon Secours, I’m blessed to be able to witness the exponential power of influence when people join forces. It’s that connectivity that makes us human, and that humanity that calls people to make an impact on the world, leaving it better than they found it.
You can change the world – or at least your own sphere of it – by using your resources wisely, financial and otherwise. For me, that’s part of why the work of the Foundation is so important. It generates connectivity for good in countless ways and with responsible stewardship.
Bon Secours Richmond Community Hospital staff often call themselves a family. And it’s not a cliché. When patients stay with us at Bon Secours Richmond Community, they feel the warmth of employees who care about the healing and well-being of each person.
Providing for the health care needs of Eastern Henrico and Richmond residents for more than 100 years, Richmond Community was founded as the first African-American hospital in Richmond. The first black woman certified to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia, Sarah Garland Jones established the “Richmond Hospital” that would become Richmond Community with her husband Miles Berkley Jones.
Today, Richmond Community continues to care for every individual with exceptional care for the whole person. The smallest of Richmond’s Bon Secours hospitals, Richmond Community’s dedicated staff supports patients in need with funds from the Good Help Fund through the Bon Secours Richmond Health Care Foundation. Through the generosity of our donors, the Foundation allows Richmond Community to offer services to its neighbors that might not otherwise be possible.
