A Bequest in your Will
Including the Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Foundation in your will with a bequest might be the best way to support the Hospital you care so much about. Your gift will not impact you financially during your lifetime and you will know that the Hospital will still be strengthened by your generosity. By adding your bequest to the endowment fund, your gift will support the Hospital in perpetuity, with only the investment earnings being expended.
Here is some suggested language to consider including in your will:
- You may designate a specific dollar amount; e.g., "I bequeath $10,000 to Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Foundation, to be used for the area of greatest need at the Hospital at the time of my death."
- You may designate a percentage of your estate; e.g., "I bequeath five percent of my estate to Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Foundation to be added to the general endowment."
- You may designate your residuary estate (what is left over after all your expenses and other bequests are satisfied) to go to Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Foundation, "After all my other obligations are satisfied, I bequeath the residue of my estate to Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Foundation.
- You may wish to establish a named endowment in your name through a bequest. In that case, you should instruct your attorney to include language that will provide $50,000, the minimum amount needed to endow a named scholarship at your death. "I bequeath to Bon Secours Mary Immaculate the minimum amount required to establish a named endowment, the proceeds from which are to be used for the purpose you designate)."
