David Belde currently serves as senior vice president of mission services for Bon Secours Richmond Health System. Prior to this role, he served as the vice president of mission integration and ethics for Seton Healthcare Family, the vice president of mission and ethics for the Bon Secours Virginia Health System and the director of ethics for Saint Joseph’s Health System, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Belde holds a bachelor’s degree in theology from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, a master’s degree in theological ethics from Boston College and a doctorate of philosophy from Saint Louis University where his research focused on the meaning and significance of human dignity in end-of-life care.

In addition to speaking nationally and internationally on health care ethics, Belde has authored peer-reviewed articles on health care ethics and is co-author of “An Introduction to Health Care Ethics: Theological Foundations, Contemporary Issues, and Controversial Cases.” Published by Anselm Academic, the text is now in its second edition.

Belde is married to Amelia Lyon Belde. They have identical twin girls, Lily and Sophie. In his free time, he enjoys gardening, golfing and hiking.
