Giving to bon secours St. Francis medical center

Message from the Administrator

Because of the Foundations, when individuals identify with the Bon Secours mission to be good help, they have an avenue through which to express their charity, their potential, and their desire to care for our community.

The Foundations create a reciprocal relationship: People in the community give to the foundation, and that provides a way for Bon Secours to respond to needs in the community. I think it’s a wonderful relationship. Once we get individuals involved, they understand our integrity and the way we want to respond to the community. And they become collaborators.

My hope is that the Foundation becomes seen as a community foundation. When individuals give to a Bon Secours Foundation, they can be confident that we will be leaders in collaboration. We will look for opportunities to be part of the community, to look for the real needs. We listen to true need.

Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center, which opened in 2005, was built to be a place of healing inside and out. With its walking paths through the gardens, bell tower and beautiful chapel, Bon Secours St. Francis offers exceptional health care in a setting that inspires wholeness.

Many visitors notice the water walls that flank the entrance to the chapel. These fountains are an important symbol, as each new employee adds water to the fountain to show how they are adding their gifts to the healing ministry of St. Francis. Even the money, tossed in by children and other visitors, has been used to help patients who leave St. Francis with a special need.

The first new hospital built to serve residents south of the James River since 1985, Bon Secours St. Francis has quickly become a beloved part of the Chesterfield County community. The dedicated staff supports patients in need with funds from the St. Francis Care Fund through the Bon Secours Richmond Health Care Foundation. Through the generosity of our donors, the Foundation allows Bon Secours St. Francis to offer services to the community that might not otherwise be possible.

  • The Watkins CentreConvenient access to emergency care is a critical component to the health of our community.  Wherever you live, whatever your circumstances, when you need us, we’ll be there, providing healthcare at the very highest levels of excellence.  That is why the first phase of our expansion plans includes a free standing emergency department at Bon Secours St. Francis Watkins Centre.  Our full-service, free standing emergency department will be open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, staffed with board certified emergency physicians and emergency trained nurses.  The free standing emergency department will be able to handle all emergencies, with comprehensive diagnostic imaging on-site.  Ground was broken on December 10, 2010 at the site and we are grateful for your support as we move forward.
  • Outpatient Infusion Center: With limited outpatient options for patients south of the James River who need chemotherapy, intravenous antibiotics, or blood transfusions, Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center is committed to offering a dedicated center for these specialized treatments.
