The St. Francis Care Fund

The St. Francis Care Fund was initiated in 2006 to assist vulnerable patients at St. Francis Medical Center with post discharge needs to enhance the healing process.

Whereas St. Francis Medical Center can meet the needs of patients while hospitalized, there were no funds to assist patients in financial distress at the time of discharge. The 30 day period after discharge is the most critical time for patients to recover, heal and return to work.

A small group of volunteers established the first Volunteer Fund Committee through Volunteer Services. The purpose of the Committee is to oversee this program and solicit funds from individuals, businesses, church groups and through fundraising events.

Assistance from the Patient Care Fund can include medications, medical supplies and equipment, home infusion, car seats, utilities, rent, or any assistance that will support the post discharge healing process .

The primary service area for St. Francis Medical Center includes Chesterfield County and the neighboring counties of Powhatan, Cumberland, Goochland and Amelia.

The St. Francis Care Fund is a unique fund that does not exist among other area hospitals. Because volunteers provide so much support for this program, the St. Francis Care Fund has no administrative expenses.

We hope that you will join us in bringing support and
 hope to those in need.
