Veronica Bates-Gomez

A native of Oakland California, Ms. Bates-Gomez came to reside in central Virginia in 2002 after serving honorably in the U.S. Army. Since making Virginia her home, she has worked in the acquisition and logistics career fields at Defense Supply Center Richmond, a field activity of Defense Logistics Agency that supplies aviation spare parts and supplies to our nations’ military. She began her civil service career as a contract specialist and quickly became known as a tenacious negotiator as she moved through the ranks. After 10 years in the contracting field and wanting to become well rounded in her knowledge and experience, Ms. Bates-Gomez moved on to become a supply systems analyst where she currently works in inventory management as an instructor and provides help-desk support for the agency’s resolution specialists for various supply systems.

Ms. Bates-Gomez became involved with Bon Secours when her mother Pat received care from the staff at Bon Secours Hospice. As her mother’s primary caregiver and without any family in the Richmond area, she was very grateful for the care both she and her mother received. As a grateful family member she became involved with the Bon Secours Foundation when she made her first gift to our Hospice program in 2008. She feels when she gives back to Bon Secours she can feel her mother giving back too.

Away from work, she is an active member of the Richmond Strike-it-Rich bowling club and enjoys spending her free time bowling in multiple leagues and traveling for tournaments.
